Garage Conversions is a North West building team that specialises in one thing: turning unused garages into finished, certified living space. Our head office is on Richmond Street in Manchester city centre, and we run local teams across the region — from Wigan and Bolton in the west to Stalybridge and Macclesfield in the east, and from Preston and Blackburn in the north to Wilmslow in the south. Because we only do garage conversions, we've seen every variation the region's housing stock can throw at us: 1930s semis with garages too narrow for a car, post-war estates with integral garages under a bedroom, prefab concrete garages that need rebuilding, new-build homes where the planning permission says the garage must stay a garage. We know what works, what it costs and what the council will want to see.
How we work
- Free, honest surveys. We'll tell you if a conversion isn't right for your garage, and we'll show you the options if it is.
- Fixed-price, itemised quotes. The price you're quoted is the price you pay, unless you change the specification.
- Regulations handled. We submit the Building Regulations notice, manage every inspection and hand you the completion certificate. Where planning permission is needed, we prepare and submit the application.
- Built to last. Insulated floors, walls and ceilings; damp-proof membranes; proper ventilation; certified electrics. Not a cold box with a carpet in it.
- Finished to match. Brick-matched infill walls, plastered and decorated interiors, skirting and architrave that match the house. Your new room shouldn't look like a converted garage.
- Tidy and considerate. Dust sheets, floor protection, waste removed, and a site that's locked and safe every evening.
Our team
Every project has a single point of contact from survey to handover. On site you'll meet our own joiners, bricklayers, plasterers and decorators, supported by registered electricians and plumbers who certify their own work. Our surveyors deal with Building Control and the planning departments at every council in the region and know what each one expects.
