A garage playroom solves the problem every young family knows: toys in every room and nowhere for adults to sit. Converting the garage gives children a dedicated space for play, crafts, games and later homework, while the living room goes back to being a living room.

Designed with children in mind
- Warm floors — insulated and damp-proofed, with a choice of vinyl, laminate, carpet or rubber-backed flooring that survives spills and crayons.
- Safe electrics: sockets positioned high or with safety shutters, recessed lighting with no dangling fittings, and a TV/console point if you want one.
- Plenty of daylight from a large window or French doors in the infill wall, with toughened safety glass as standard.
- Built-in storage — full-height cupboards, cubby shelving and window seats with storage underneath, so tidying up takes two minutes.
- Durable, wipe-clean finishes: scrubbable paint, rounded corners on built-in joinery and easy-clean wall panels where needed.
- Sound insulation in the wall to the house (and to the neighbours) so a noisy afternoon doesn't carry.
- Direct access to the house — a new internal doorway where there isn't one, so nobody has to go outside to reach the playroom.
Planning permission and Building Regulations
A playroom in an attached garage is normally permitted development, so no planning application is required unless your home is listed, in a conservation area or has had permitted development rights removed.
